At Electric Cottage Collective, retreats are an opportunity to practice a different way of being together. We live in a culture that asks us to carry a lot on our own—to care for ourselves, solve our problems, manage our time, and continually work toward becoming a better version of ourselves. Our retreats are an experiment in doing something different.

We create time and space to rest, move, make things, eat together, play, wander, connect, and simply be. There is no version of yourself you need to arrive as, and nothing you need to accomplish while you’re here. We’re especially interested in creating spaces where people who spend a lot of their lives caring for others get to receive care, too—not as a transaction, but as something we practice together. Through shared meals, movement, conversation, creativity, and plenty of room for doing absolutely nothing, we get to experience what it feels like when we don’t have to hold everything alone.

Our retreats aren’t about optimizing yourself so you can return to the grind refreshed. They’re about making room for questions: What do we actually want our lives to feel like? What becomes possible when rest isn’t something we have to earn? How might we build lives and communities that are more sustainable, joyful, connected, and collective?

Come as you are. Participate as much or as little as you want. There’s nowhere you need to be and nothing you need to prove. Just a few days to practice being part of something together.
