fashion norms aren’t neutral

What I wear to teach movement classes at Electric Cottage Collective doesn’t mirror dominant influencer aesthetics—and that’s intentional.
I’m not investing in $100 leggings or subscribing to the “clean-girl”-beige aesthetic.
Because these norms aren’t neutral—they’re shaped by systems of power that tell us which bodies, styles, and identities are most acceptable.
For me, liberation starts with recognizing those structures—and choosing to show up in ways that feel more honest, more expansive, and more free. And if those styles make you feel confident, joyful, comfy, and hot—truly, no shade at all.
And yes my shirt says It’s Macaroni Time. 🍝 Found this on a treasure hunt🏆🏴☠️ at one of my favorite spots in Portland: Ferdinand!
