Slow Flow Yoga

🧘‍♀️ Slow Flow is a weekly, all-levels yoga class offered on a pay-what-you-can basis—from $0 to $75. This class is all about moving gently and intentionally, blending mindful movement with spacious pauses for breath and rest. Whether you’re new to yoga or a longtime practitioner, you’re welcome just as you are.

At ECC, we believe yoga is so much more than a stretchy workout. It’s a lifelong, spiritual practice rooted in the wisdom of Southeast Asian and African traditions—one that invites us into deeper relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

We do our best to honor yoga’s roots by weaving in teachings on self-awareness, ethics, and collective care—while keeping our classes slow, grounding, and accessible. ✨

🌱 All donations for this class go directly to our Class Scholarship Fund, which helps folks access other ECC classes and workshops. When the fund is thriving, we extend it to support local mutual aid projects too. Got an idea for where it could go next? We’d love to hear it!

💕 And just to be crystal clear: nobody will ever be turned away for lack of funds. Come as you are, and move with us in community.

Movement to Rest

Sometimes we need to move around a little before we can find stillness. In this yoga class you can expect gentle, meditative flows that lead you in to longer-held Yin and Restorative shapes. We’ll move with breath, we’ll wiggle, we’ll stretch, and we will end with a long rest/savasana.  All movement is optional and modifications will be offered to allow you to choose how much or how little sensation you’d like to experience.  No prior yoga experience is necessary. Wear cozy clothing that will allow for light movement, stretching, and rest.

Yoga for Grief

Whether you are grieving the loss of a loved one, the state of the country/world, or any experience that feels distressing to you - you are welcome exactly as you are. Come move, be, connect, and find ease. Come dressed to sit comfortably in a community circle to chat and in clothing that allows you to gently move for our yoga practice. You may bring your own yoga mat and props or you can use what we have here in the studio. You might also like to bring a journal or something to write with. Most importantly, just come as you are! Topics may include presence & body awareness, self-care, self-love & acceptance, your identity in your grief, changes, what is 'normal', and many other experiences that show up in grief. Our bodies are where we hold on to our grief and trauma, and Yoga Therapy is a way to connect to these feelings and be present with what's happening now. Yin Yoga

During Yin Yoga we hold poses for between three and eight minutes, often with the use or support of props (blocks, blankets, bolsters, straps, etc.). By holding these shapes for longer stretches of time we can open up space in our bodies, our breath, and our minds.  In this space we encounter ourselves and maybe begin to ask questions.  Between each pose and throughout class there will be moments for students to move meditatively and intuitively.  Modifications are offered for each pose making this practice accessible to all levels and adjustable depending on how much or how little sensation one might be seeking. Class ends with a long savasana. Wear clothing that will allow for comfortable stretching and resting.

Words as Resistance, Words as Release

Words as Resistance, Words as Release

The written word is one of the most powerful tools we have — both for questioning systems of oppression, and finding peace and presence in the now. In this writing workshop, we’ll do both!

Come as you are, with every bit of rage and joy your day has brought, and get ready to release it to the page! For inspiration, we’ll read short passages by writers, activists, and environmentalists throughout history. Then, we’ll work through a new generative writing prompt every week, focusing on resistance or release (or both)! Many of these prompts can be revisited and used as grounding tools throughout your daily life.

No prior experience with creative writing is necessary. Anyone interested in writing, journaling, or exploring new realms of creativity is welcome here!

Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath

Join Liz & Vanessa for an evening of Restorative Yoga & Sound Bath! Melt stress and relax fully into vibration and sound by candlelight.

Liz will guide us through some restorative yoga postures, which is a gentle, deeply relaxing style of yoga that focuses on slowing down, releasing tension, and activating the parasympathetic nervous system (your rest-and-digest state). Unlike more active or athletic styles of yoga, restorative yoga is about stillness, support, and ease.

The synergy of the meditative and somatic effects of resonant sound energizes your cells and imbues them with increased immunity. Your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) will be activated, lowering cortisol levels and promoting deep relaxation to combat mental and physical fatigue.

Vanessa uses Bronze Tibetan singing bowls, tongue drum, vocal toning and crystal bowls to create healing and transformation in the body and mind.  Participants will be on the floor; blankets, bolsters and mats are available to you but feel free to bring your favorites.

About the facilitator:

Vanessa Bresson is a Reiki attuned, IASH certified Sound Practitioner located in Freeport Maine utilizing and blending Sonic Embodiment Experience by way of vocal toning/singing, Tibetan Bowl Sound Massage, ringing and singing Crystal bowls and more.  Vanessa blends sounds, vibration and notes intuitively on the road to invoke others innate ability to heal themselves.  She moves through her creative practice partnering with beloved yoga teachers to bring nervous-system restoring sessions in class and 1:1 bespoke sessions.
